The Sadhana of Mahamudra, commentary and practice. Hybrid Program with Larry Mermelstein

The Sadhana of Mahamudra, commentary and practice. Hybrid Program with Larry Mermelstein

About ours speaker:

Beginning in 1971, Larry Mermelstein became a close student of the Venerable Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche, Tibetan Buddhist meditation master and scholar. He has served as asenior teacher in the Vajradhatu/Shambhala community for decades. He is a founding member and the executive director of the Nalanda Translation Committee for over forty years and is a long-time consulting editor to Shambhala Publications.

In 1968, while on retreat in a cave in Bhutan, Chögyam Trungpa discovered “The Sadhana of Mahamudra,” a terma text, or visionary teaching, that illuminated a path to overcome the obstacles to spiritual maturation and progress. From the time this text was written down onwards, his teachings were dedicated to providing his students with the wisdom to sail clear of the fog of materialism.

A new book entitled “The Sadhana of Mahamudra: Teachings on Devotion and Crazy Wisdom” is a compilation of teachings offered by Chögyam Tungpa to unpack the meaning of the text and the practice. In this extensive commentary, Trungpa Rinpoche lays the groundwork we need to gain a deeper appreciation of this profound text and how it applies to our own life and practice. As he states in the book, “The sadhana is a prototype of how emotion and wisdom can work together.”

Larry will be presenting commentary on the wisdom presented in this volume of teachings.  We will also be practicing the Sadhana of Mahamudra together.

We will have copies of the book available for purchase.
