The degree to which stress unduly influences our lives is generally underestimated. Often the mind clings to anger, guilt or regrets about the past, and anxiety about the future. This oscillation of the mind creates tension and stress both for ourselves and for the people around us. To be able to deal with our mind and negative emotions is an art … the Art of Living.

On December 21, 2025, something extraordinary happened.

More than 12 million people around the world paused at the same moment to meditate together for World Meditation Day—a day formally recognized by the United Nations and inaugurated by Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar.

From the United Nations headquarters to a New York studio, and from cities and villages across every continent, millions united in a single breath of silence and peace.

Across 22 giant digital screens at New York’s World Trade Center complex, including a striking 100-yard display, the message of meditation reached the heart of one of the world’s busiest cities—while participation flowed seamlessly across time zones, cultures, and communities worldwide.

Gurudev delivered the keynote address at the United Nations, marking the second anniversary of World Meditation Day’s official recognition. His message was simple yet profound:

“In this age of so much technology, we cannot forget that there is a place of peace within our hearts.”

The moment was echoed by historic civic recognition across the United States. To date, 70 official proclamations—including 7 federal, 12 state-level, and 51 city and county proclamations—were issued honoring World Meditation Day and the work of The Art of Living, reflecting a broad, bipartisan acknowledgment of meditation as essential to public wellbeing.

12 million people. One moment. One breath.

This is what’s possible when humanity pauses together.
