Lama Tsultrim Yeshe

BIO

Lama Tsultrim Yeshe (John Samuelson) began practicing Tibetan Buddhism with students for Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche in 1987. He completed the 1st 5 classes of Shambhala Training and started the upper level. After preparing for Vajradhatu Seminary he became a student of Khenpo Karthar Rinpoche, Abbot of Karma Triyana Dharmachakra Monastery, Woodstock, NY, in 1989. He completed the first traditional Tibetan three-year retreat held at the Karme Ling Retreat Center, Delhi, NY, led by Khenpo Karthar Rinpoche. Upon finishing the retreat  in 1996, he received the title ‘Lama’ meaning teacher. He received novice monk vows from H. E. Tai Situ Rinpoche in 1994 and full ordination from Thrangu Rinpoche in 2008.  Lama Yeshe is a retired prison chaplain and also taught Sociology at the university level. He lives in Wisconsin, where he is the director of a meditation center, and teaches at dharma centers throughout North America.  He is especially known for workshops in which participants use Tibetan Buddhist practices to explore the nature of forgiveness and to learn how to heal old wounds. He guides participants with an approachable and open style.
